The Clinical Directorate is responsible for a wide range of duties and functions, including:

  • Co-ordination of clinical leadership – ensuring the CCG remains a clinically-led organisation
  • Promoting and supporting development of clinical effectiveness and clinical excellence
  • Clinical engagement with primary care, GP members, Primary Care Networks, the Local Medical Council, NHS England / Improvement and the Integrated Care Partnerships
  • Research and development
  • GP Care Quality Commission (CQC) relationship management and support for member practices

Led by Associate Clinical Directors Dr Andy McAlavey and Sinead Clarke, the Clinical Directorate is responsible for professional leadership for designated doctors for safeguarding and clinical leadership to support consistent care.

It is also responsible for providing strategic leadership to align local postgraduate GP education to deliver in line with organisational objectives.
