Freedom to Speak Up Guardian
The Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian is an important role identified in the Freedom to Speak Up review to act as an independent and impartial source of advice to staff at any stage of raising a concern, with access to anyone in the organisation, or if necessary, outside the organisation.
Essentially the role is to ensure that a culture of speaking up is instilled throughout the organisation and effective processes are in place to support staff.
As a nationally defined role, the FTSU Guardian focuses on the key area of supporting individuals to raise concerns that are in the interest of patients or the public.
