Self Care Awards

It is estimated that 31.2 million working days are lost every year through ill-health. Equally patients attend for GP appointments for minor ailments at a cost of £2 billion to the NHS per year.

Providing information and support to employees at an early stage can help prevent the escalation of a condition.  Just as important, is that staff feel well supported and valued.

Organisations, schools, community groups and individuals can all reap the rewards of a healthier workforce so NHS Cheshire Commissioning Group (CCG) are reaching out to their local communities to help them achieve a wider scope in their engagement and spreading the benefits of Self Care.

Using previous stakeholder analysis, one of the biggest gaps we have locally through our engagement is to our students and working populations.

Working with our Self Care Champions, we have looked at how to get key messages out in a way that is of benefit to staff, students and employers alike as well as helping the CCGs engage with often seldom heard pockets of the community.

Our Award Programme will help to develop self care messages that will inform, help people to remain well and support them during periods of illness.
