Long COVID services are available via GP referral across Cheshire and Merseyside.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) can cause symptoms that last weeks or months after the infection has gone. This is known as Long COVID or post-COVID syndrome.
Long COVID does not always go away, it is a condition that needs assessment and treatment. It is important for you to seek help if you need it.
What is Long COVID?
The amount of time it takes to recover from COVID-19 will be different for everybody. Many people will feel better in a few days or weeks and most will make a full recovery within 12 weeks, but symptoms can last longer for some people.
People who only had mild symptoms can still have long-term problems. You don’t need to have had a positive COVID-19 test either, because we know some people had COVID-19 without a positive test.
The top three symptoms of Long COVID are extreme tiredness (fatigue), shortness of breath and problems with memory and concentration (brain fog).
More information about Long COVID - including a list of recognised symptoms - is available on the NHS website.
