NHS Cheshire and Merseyside October 2025 Blog

Autumn is an important time to look after our health and wellbeing as we prepare for the colder months ahead. I strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to get their flu and Covid vaccinations as soon as possible. These vaccines remain the best protection against serious illness and will help keep our communities well this winter.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen a concerning rise in misinformation about vaccines and other health matters in recent years. That’s why it’s more important than ever to make sure the health information we rely on comes from trusted sources.

For accurate, up-to-date advice, please follow official NHS accounts on social media. You can also sign up for the newly-launched NHS WhatsApp Channel by searching ‘NHS’ under the ‘Updates’ tab in the app.

On another note, I’d like to thank everyone who joined us for our Annual General Meeting in Liverpool last month. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on the progress we’ve made this past year and to look ahead together.

2025-26 is a year which is currently defined by two key priorities – financial recovery and the start of delivery of the 10-Year Health Plan.

The Cheshire and Merseyside system faces a really significant challenge to deliver its financial plan this year, but the prize is a more sustainable health and care system which is better placed to deliver the key national priorities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank NHS colleagues across Cheshire and Merseyside for their ongoing efforts to help achieve our financial plan – while continuing to deliver high-quality care.

Best wishes,

Cathy Elliott
